Damsel In Defense MLM – Is It A Great Business To Get Into?

Hi there and welcome to my Damsel in Defense review. It's refreshing to see an MLM-business venture that is not concentrated on vitamins, nutrition based products, weight loss products or jewelry accessories.

The Damsel In Defense company is focused on defense products for women. I am guessing that the main purpose of your visit, is to find out if joining this company will be worth your while. It's my pleasure to help you out today.

Making money online is not a far-fetched reality. Despite the rise in online scams, there are still legit ways by which you can build an online passive income business.

It came as a bit of a surprise to me when I realized that the official Damsel in Defense offered no information regarding their origins.

However, they do mention that they are part of the DSA(Direct Selling Association), and have BBB(Better Business Bureau) accreditation.

Upon visiting these two sites and doing a bit more research, I learned that Damsel In Defense was founded back in 2011. The owners are Mindy Lin and Bethany Hughes.

According to the DSA site, their headquarters are based in Idaho, Boise.

What is Damsel In Defense all about

As I mentioned earlier on,their flagship products include personal defense products for women.

The Damsel In Defense adopts a MLM or multi-level marketing business model. You can make money by direct selling their products via hosting 'parties.'

I will get into the finer details shortly on how you can go about earning money with the company. For now let's take a look at their product line.

Their product product portfolio consists of stun guns, pepper sprays, personal alarms, emergency necklaces and whistles, backpacks, wallets and carry purses.

Mind you they have a pretty interesting product line that also features educational books for kids and protection plans for the family.

As for their protection plans, they have 3 different options that cover 3 unique areas. They are as follows,

  • Identity Theft Protection
  • Computer Protection and Tech Support, and
  • Social Media Monitoring

Are the Damsel In Defense products really that unique?

Let's face it, you can buy the stun guns, personal alarms and pepper spray from other online retailers. You do not have to look further than Amazon, to take your pick.

As for the price, I guess one has to do a bit of shopping around. However, since Damsel In Defense is an MLM-structure, I would believe that their prices are likely to be higher than other unknown brands.

The bottom line in my opinion, is that irrespective of the brand, the product is going to serve the same purpose - to protect you. Am I right?

Is there really a need to buy these products?

The positive part though, is that if you were to buy some of the Damsel In Defense products a portion of the proceeds goes to a charitable cause.

Like the purchase of one of their SAFE Hearts products.

Now its time we talk about the money aspect. How does one make money with Damsel In Defense?

Let me show you.

To join the Damsel In Defense business, you got to purchase a starter kit which costs you $99.

This is what you get in their starter kit.

As a Damsel Pro, you can 'host' parties to showcase the various products. Depending on how much sales you make, you can earn a hostess credit and can qualify to receive discounts on further purchases.

Damsel In Defense compensation plan

You can earn up to 25% to 30% when you sell to a first time customer. Thereafter if the customer continues subscription, you can earn 20% on sales.

Then you have the option of building your business by recruiting people to join your downline. Their are various ranking titles that you can achieve as more people joins you.

These titles include,

The compensation plan is not as straightforward though.I will try my best to simplify it for you.

Your commissions are calculated on PV(Personal Volume),TV(Team Volume), Group Volume(GV/TDV) that you and your team make on a monthly basis.

From the Junior Mentor level and upwards, you qualify to receive an additional downline bonuses.

If you attain Director rank or higher, then in addition to these downline bonuses, you also qualify for a Generation Bonus.

Bottom Line: The more people you recruit into the business, and the more active your team are(in terms of product sales), the higher your earnings.

I like the fact that the company is registered with the DSA and has BBB accreditation.

It's good to see that this company is taking an initiative to address a real concern by empowering women and providing shelters for girls rescued from sex trafficking operations. I like their policy of giving back to organizations that are fighting for a good cause.

It's not possible to build a global business. Their country of business operation is limited to only within the United States.

Complex compensation plan. I guess that it's normal given that it's an MLM-structure, but sometimes one can get lost into the whole scheme of things, that involves personal volume, rankings and so forth.

I like it when it's simple to understand on how you will make money. Like this business training platform that I am a part of.

You are pressured into making sales fast.According to their rules, you need to generate $150 in personal commissonable sales within your first three months.Failure to do so, will result in your downline moving to the next active member above you.

damsel in defense pressurizes you to make sales fast

No further training offered. If you were to take a closer look at their starter kit, you will notice that there is no mention of any training.

Whilst you get marketing materials such as business cards and hostess guides, there is nothing to help you to grow your business.

I noticed that the official Damsel in Defense does not have any income disclosure reports.

This is very strange considering that they have been around since 2011. I think that it's important to have this, to give us an idea on how members are doing within the company.

Like this, one is left in the dark.

Does this mean that Damsel in Defense is a scam?

It's time to end this review with my verdict.

Is Damsel In Defense a scam? I don't think that its a scam.

The company has got a decent standing in the MLM-market.

At the end of the day it's not merely an exchange of money that is taking place. You are still getting a product for your monies worth.

Should you join Damsel in Defense? Is Damsel In Defense for you?

They say that a small percentage of people succeed at Network Marketing.I am referring to those that achieve the top ranking positions. One of the main reasons may be the level of sales experience that he or she has.

Whilst you may have the drive and ambition, you need to know how to reach out to circles further than family and friends to grow this sort of business. And as far as the training is concerned they do not offer one much.

To answer the questions above, I believe that if you enjoy recruiting or have a fair amount of sales experience, then give Damsel In Defense a go.

If on the other hand, you do not like the thought of having to bother people, hosting of sales parties, or going to training seminars, then maybe this is not the right option for you.

I make money online without having to recruit, or cold call, or without the need of having the need to outlay any capital for product purchases.

  1. I have never heard of damsel in defense not until I read this article and I must commend you for taking your time to share this article, you have really done a great job. I understood every bit of it through this article and the features seems convincing but the fact that no training and one will be pressurized in making sales fast is a disadvantage to consider but I’m glad you gave a way to check out your number one recommendation which I will check in and go into. Thanks for sharing this information.

  2. Thank you for your review Roopesh.  My wife has purchased something from Damsel in Defense before, and I agree that it is not a scam.  My opinion on the MLM sector as a whole is that these companies are very difficult to get anywhere in.  Sure, you get to hear about all the successes but you never hear from the people who have bought hundreds of dollars of samples but never sold them.

The idea behind the company is great, helping women feel safe in their environments.

Thank you again for your informative review!
