Remotasks Review 2019 – Is It Really Worth Your Time?

Are you looking to make money by doing tasks online? Then Remotasks may have caught your attention. It's always an exciting feeling to know, that these kind of opportunities can offer you the possibility of working from home.

Is Remotasks a scam, or is it going to be worth your time? I went ahead and tested out this platform. Whilst it's free to join, there are a few things that you should know of, if you're considering this as an option to making money online.

Before we get right into the heart of this review, you may want to take a look at the method that I have been using for the past 4 years to earn a passive income online. Click on the link that follows to learn more.

WHAT IS ABOUT: Performing various tasks such as transcription jobs, image annotation, categorization and LiDAR.

What is the purpose behind the Remotasks initiative?

There are various companies, or as Remotasks puts it, 'start-ups', who need feedback on their products, services, etc.

For instance, they have clients who are in the business of manufacturing 'self-driving cars'.  These cars have LiDAR technology installed in them. LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging. These cars with the LiDAR cameras are able to collect 3D Data in the form of light points. This is where you come into the picture.

By signing up with Remotasks, you can take a course to become a LiDar annotator. Your job is to identify clusters of light points that represent other cars, people, trees, etc.

A LiDAR Scene- You Have to identify the clusters of light points.

In exchange for successfully completing these tasks, you will get paid.

The great part is that registration with Remotasks is free.

The not so great part is that it's not a straight forward process, once you enter the member's area. It's not as simple as having tasks all lined for you to do, after which you can earn some quick money.

You have to enroll into the Remotasks University and take the courses. Once you successfully complete all the courses and pass the exam, only then will you be eligible for the paying assignments.

Let me show you more on what the Remotasks University is all about.

There are a range of jobs that you can try out when you sign up to the platform.

Remotasks University

Here are some of the categories that you can choose from.

  • Image Annotation
  • Categorization
  • OCR/Image Transcription
  • Comparison
  • Audio Transcription
  • Data Collection

Image Annotation

You have to identify images by drawing boxes around them.

Use keywords to help to identify images.

OCR/Image Transcription

Your job here is to transcribe content from images.

Very much similar to the image annotation, only difference is that here you will have to compare characteristics between images.

Audio Transcription

Is similar to the image transcription. The difference though, is that you will have to listen to audio instead of looking at an image and transcribe what you hear.

Data Collection

Browse the internet and collect requested data.

On first impression, it may seem like these tasks are pretty easy. Trust me, some of them are pretty challenging.

For instance, I decided to tackle the first course, the one of Image annotation.

The first lesson in the course was titled, "Helium Lane Attributes". My job was to look at the lanes on the road and assign specific attributes.

I had to decide if the lane is a:

  • solid line,
  • a truncated or dotted line,
  • no lane or a boundary,
  • merge lane and so forth.

Once you've understood the material, you are given three chances thereafter to take the exam. You have to score a 100%. Don't stress here as they show you where you went wrong, and you will be given a chance to rectify and re-submit your answers.

The helium attributes was merely one course out of the entire subject. Take a look at the other courses that I would have to complete.

From my understanding, only once all of these courses are completed, will I then be eligible to get paid assignments.

Let's say that you pass the exams and now you qualify to take on the paying jobs. How much money can you earn with doing Remotasks online?

It depends on the type of work that you are doing. As you can imagine, not all tasks pay equally. I read somewhere that the LiDAR tasks and the Transcription jobs pay well. So, I guess that it really depends on the tasks complexity.

For instance, on YouTube, one person earned $5.52 for doing a LiDAR Bear task. It was a one hour job.

However, the person had to achieve a 50% accuracy to get accepted and paid by the reviewer.

Having said that, if you want an estimate of how much you can earn with Remotasks, the site mentions the following projected figures,

  • For a 20-hour week -$35-$50
  • For a 40-hour week - $60-$100

It averages around $1.5-$2.50 per hour. As you have seen in the YouTube example above, the more challenging tasks pay more.

Unlike other sites such as this one that I reviewed recently, Remotasks features some authentic testimonials.

Remotasks review features some legit testimonials

Let's take a look at the pros and cons of this business opportunity.

I like the fact that the registration is free.

They have some legit testimonials to show that folks are earning by doing tasks online.

They have a range of courses, so you can choose what you would like to do as opposed to doing tasks that you do not want to do.

They have a cool referral program. You get paid $10 for anyone who joins with your referral link.

It's more challenging to get the high paying jobs.

They only accept Paypal. You will not be paid by any other means.

It takes up a great deal of your time. You have to complete all the courses and exams pertaining to a subject before you can qualify to take the paying jobs.

It's NOT a passive income opportunity. You are trading your time for money. If you do not work at the tasks, you will not get paid.

Whilst Remotasks does not 'tick' all the boxes for what I think is the best opportunity to making money online, I still believe that Remotasks is not a scam.

However, is it the best way to make money online for You?

That depends. If you are one who likes to make money from doing tasks online, then this opportunity might be for you. If you do not mind putting in the time to doing the courses, then give Remotasks a go!

If on the other hand, you value your time and are looking at making more serious money on a consistent basis, then this might not be the best way to get started. Especially if you are someone who would rather prefer to put in the time and effort to build a business that can offer you passive income potential.

If you are someone who falls into the second group, then where do you go, or what do you do next?

If you have read up to this point, then it means that you are considering a change for the better. Congratulations!

It also means that you ready to put in the time and effort to make the possibility of earning passive income online a reality. One advantage of starting an online business is that it costs less than a traditional brick and mortar enterprise.

The other big advantage is that this business model which I am going to introduce you to, is perfect for newbies. So, do not stress if you have no experience. It simply means that you are a perfect candidate.

It's the same model that got me started, four years ago, when I was working a 9-5 job and wanted something different. So, to learn more on how to get started, simply link on the link that follows, and I will show you everything that you need to know.

Thanks so much for joining me on this Remotasks review.

I hope that this Remotasks review has helped you out.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  1. While it’s not passive income, it does sound appealing to me to fill in a few hours a day and maybe make some decent money here. While exams and courses must be completed to qualify, it sounds like a go-to for someone to earn money perhaps while building their passive income business. Even though they still trade their time in for income, I can see Remotasks as a possible bridge between working the dreaded day job and passive income work.

    • Yes, and that is one of the main reasons why I give it a 3-star rating. Thanks so much for stopping by.

      Appreciate it
