Welcome to my Apex Focus Group review. Are you looking to get paid for your opinion? How about joining a company that offers you the chance to be a part of a diverse range of market research groups? An opportunity that is flexible enough to suit both your lifestyle and location?
Apex Focus Group is marketed as one such opportunity. Is Apex Focus group a scam, or is it a worthwhile side-hustle for you?
Not all survey companies are created equally. And I bet that one of the things that might have attracted your attention to Apex Focus Group is the fact that their pay-rate is advertised to be higher than traditional survey companies. And I reviewed companies such as Surveys2cash and TimeBucks. And they really do not pay much.
Is Apex Focus Group legit? Let's check it out.
WHAT IS APEX FOCUS GROUP ALL ABOUT?
Apex Focus Group works differently compared to normal online survey companies.
As the name implies, they offer their members the opportunity to partake in focus groups to share their opinion about a specific product or service. And in doing so, he or she would earn some money.
Most survey companies that I reviewed, do surveys exclusively online. Either you answer a survey that follows the standard series of multiple-choice questions like Paidviewpoint. Or alternatively, you have the option of doing video surveys like Mindswarms. That is if you someone who is not camera-shy.
The point is that with Apex Focus Group, your choices of doing surveys are broadened. You can do it online, as well as in person.
Thus far Apex Focus Group have conducted over a 1000 market research opportunities.

HOW TO JOIN APEX FOCUS GROUP? - IT'S NOT FOR EVERYONE
The sign-up process is pretty straightforward. They would need your usual credentials. However, Apex Focus Group is not open to everyone.
Take a closer look at the registration form.
You will notice that it's only open to U.S. citizens. It does make sense as it's not feasible for folks from other countries to fly down just for a focus group session and then head back home. It would not be practical.
But I guess that they could always implement Zoom sessions if they wanted to increase their customer base. Who knows, they might change it in the future.
Let's say that you fit the criteria, how then does the platform work?
Let me show you.
HOW DOES APEX FOCUS GROUP WORK?
They have 3 types of market research services which you can be a part of :
- Focus Groups
- Clinical Trials
- Paid Survey Panels
Regarding their focus groups, they have over 1000 opportunities that span over different industries.
According to the official website, sharing your opinion in these focus groups "will shape the industry and help to influence new innovations to come to the market."
These are some of the topics that you can be a part of :
- Child Related (individuals with children 18 yrs or younger)
- Cell Phones (Apple, Android, or Windows...Prepaid or Contract)
- Entertainment (TV shows, movies, and video games)
- Food (If you buy fast food, casual dining, or upscale dining)
- Sports (Casual viewers and die-hard fans)
- Electronics (Tell us which devices you prefer and why)
- Pets (Animal lovers needed! Dogs, cats, and other pets)
- Automobiles (Do you own, make payments, or lease your vehicle?)
If you decide to try the focus groups, then make sure that you arrive at least 10-minutes prior to the discussion.
You will be required to submit a written report as well as share your insights orally in the group. You might also have to use the product or service before showing up for the discussions.
As for the qualification requirements, you must have a smartphone with a working camera or webcam on a desktop/laptop. You must a decent internet connection. You should have a desire as well to participate in one or all of the topics I mentioned.
The cool part is that you do not need any experience, but must be willing to work independently.
The clinical trials allow you to participate in research studies that are under development.
Then you have their paid surveys. You get to share your opinion about everyday products.
HOW MUCH CAN YOU MAKE WITH APEX FOCUS GROUP?
According to the official website, you can earn $37-$75 for one-hour sessions. But the higher earners are the multi-session studies where you can earn between $250 and $500.
For instance, if you were to take on their business travel assignment, you could make around $125.
Unfortunately, these opportunities are not the latest and updated ones.
I suppose they would send you their latest projects once you are accepted in the program and registered on their database,
Nevertheless, there are folks who have recently used Apex Focus Group and gave it rave reviews.
APEX FOCUS GROUP COMPLAINTS OR CUSTOMER COMPLIMENTS
On glassdoor.com, Apex Focus Group scored 2.8 out of five stars.
Most of the reviews were positive. Here is one from a candidate who got paid $1200 for doing a COVID
So, is Apex Focus Group a scam? Let's take a look at the pros and cons before I reveal my verdict.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT APEX FOCUS GROUP
WHAT I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT APEX FOCUS GROUP
Only available for US citizens.
No guarantee of jobs.
Not a passive income-earning opportunity.
IS APEX FOCUS GROUP A SCAM? MY PERSONAL OPINION
Is Apex Focus group legit? It's good to see that folks are giving this platform positive reviews.
The other positive is that the money earning potential is far higher than seen with online survey companies. I think that Apex Focus Group is legit.
If you get accepted into the multi-session, and they pay you $200 or 500 bucks, then it's really good money.
The big question is - how often does this actually happen? Unfortunately, I do not have the answer.
Now the not-so-good parts about Apex Focus Group. The jobs like all survey jobs demand your time and effort. In other words, you have to be actively engaged in order to earn.
If this does not bother you, then give it a go. And also bear in mind that survey companies cannot guarantee jobs.
So expect that at some point you might be sitting and waiting for your next assignment to come your way. It's always a good idea to be part of other survey companies too, to keep your options open.
On the other hand, if you are one who would prefer to make their time count, and have your efforts pay you in the long run, then doing survey jobs is not for you.
You need to look at a better way to make money online online. A way in which you can earn a passive income online.
SURVEY JOBS DO NOT GIVE YOU CONTROL OVER YOUR FINANCIAL FUTURE
If you are one who is looking to make your time and effort count, then why not invest in the greatest asset: Yourself. Take the time to learn the skills and knowledge and build your own online business.
Having your online business means you have more financial control and earning potential. You can reach a worldwide audience, your overheads are much lower compared to starting a traditional brick and mortar enterprise.
And the best part is you can have a business that will have passive income earning potential. In fact, you can get started even if you are a complete newbie.
